Resourceful Repurposing and a Little More DIY

I do not consider myself a "crafty" person, but if I see an idea and get inspiration,
I can usually tweek it to fit my needs.

So here are a few projects I have been working on.
First, I finished round 3 of my teacher toolbox.  I just wasn't completely happy with my latest version

You can get the black and green template here if it suits your needs.

It was OK, but it just wasn't me, sooo

My son painted the toolboxes for me and I love the new look!
If you would like the template I made you can get it here.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought,
"Hey, I can do that."

Here is my version (with a little help from my daughter via the polka dots.)

I think it came out pretty darn cute!

While I was at Home Depot getting the pots for this and another project,
I stumbled upon these and knew just what I wanted them for.
I replaced all my mismatched containers and jars in my bathroom,
and voila!

Looks much more pulled together now.

While I was at it, I repurposed a frame that I got at the Goodwill
store to make a hanging jewelry holder.

The old one was functional, but not pretty.

So I took out the UGLY picture that was in the frame,
removed the glass, and touched up the frame with
some gold paint to antique it a bit.
Then I stapled some window screen to the back of the frame
and added some decoration.

And here's how it looks hanging in my bathroom.

Off to work on my next project...

AZ Bloggy Meet-Up!

Important schedule change!

Hope to see you there!
If anyone wants to carpool from the northwest valley, just let me know!

Shopping SCORE!

I know, 2 posts in one day, but this find deserves its own post!
I stopped by the Goodwill store to find a frame for a project I am working on,
and lo and behold I found 2 trapezoid tables marked at $7.99 each!
You can bet I snatched those up in a hurry!

...and I found this great crate Not sure what I'm using it for YET,
but I know I will find something!

I also got the frame, a fishbowl (for another project,) and a cookie sheet.

When I checked out, the cashier asked if I was over 55.
Well, I'm not ... quite, but I figured since she asked...
so I got 25% off my purchase.
That made the tables $6 each and the crate for $3!
Everything for under $20!  What a deal!

The moral of this twice-in-one-day post,
Go check out the thrift stores!
You never know what YOU may find!

Summer Shopping Linky

I am linking up with Kristen over at Ladybug's Teacher Files
to share some of my summer shopping finds, and maybe
provide you with a little inspiration too..
On Sunday, I headed over to JoAnn's to get some
crafty stuff to finish up my desk blotter.

Besides the bling, I found colored craft sticks and
mini velcro dots to make these math angle kits.
Next, I made a trip with hubs to Home Depot to get some paint and pots
for another craft project I wanted to do.
I found these pretty red and turquoise glazed pots that would go
perfectly with my new room design.
Problem was, they didn't have enough,
so... after trips to 4 different Home Depots...

By the way, the paint kits I found at HD had just come in that day.
The regular one (on the right) was $6 for 12 bottles and the metalic set was $9.
A bargain right?

I still need a few more, but I think these are going to be cute on my tables
to hold pencils and erasers.

I even made this one for my table to hold paper clips and binder clips, etc.

I painted these to be jewelry holders for my bathroom and my
daughter's bedroom (she is a purple freak!)
I had picked out a bright lime green for the middle part of hers,
 but she wanted black instead.

The colors of mine do not show really accurately.
The top and bottom are a coppery color burnished with the gold,
and the middle is the gold burnished with the coppery color.
It is prettier in person than in the pictures.

(3" pot, 4" saucer and 6" saucer)

While I was Home Depot surfing, I stopped at Target to get the fabric drawers
they have on sale this week ($5.99 versus $7 at Lowe's.)

...and I found some new duct tape patterns!

I also oreded these cute little mini boggle games
from Oriental Trading Company.  $8.50 for a DOZEN!

OK, must stop shopping and get some work done!
What great stuff have you found?

Monday Made-It! DIY Desk Blotter

Whoo Hooo!
Finally finished my desk blotter!
Turned out pretty cute I think,
and it cost me under $5!
I had the cardboard (from my new computer box,) the contact paper,
and duct tape on hand for another project,
so all I had to buy was elastic, ribbon and the decorations.

Here's a video tutorial so you can create one too
to match your classroom theme.

And finally...

I am putting the finishing touches on my Circus Theme Classroom Bundle

I have also been working on my Collaborative Magnetic Poetry Board and once I get it finished, I will post a picture too.  It needs a title and some decoration (and I am not good with the decoration part.)

Finally, I found this great tutorial for a DIY Desk Blotter
that I think will be my next project.
Guess I have a BUSY weekend in store!
