Summer Reading Contest and a Linky Party!

It is summer time!  Let the reading begin!
I am joining The Clutter Free Classroom for a Summer Reading Contest Linky Party.

I am planning som BIG changes in my classroom for next year, my summer (professional) reading list is a big one.  I am planning on starting up Reading and Writing Workshops since we have been granted permission to move away from our "fidelity to the core" using our McMillan series, and move toward what is best for kids and meeting the new common core standards.  With that in mind, I went surfing to find recommended books on reading and writing worshop implementation.  The first one I found was Launching the Writing Workshop: A Step-by-Step Guide in Photographs . I started it right away and I LOVE it!  After reading most of it, I do not feel so overwhelmed starting this up.

The last three I have purchased and plan to read are based on recommendations from fellow bloggers.
Dream Class: How To Transform Any Group Of Students Into The Class You've Always Wanted

Finally, My teaching partner recommended Choice Words and Opening Minds: Using Language to Change Lives .  I started Choice Words today, and it is really insightful so far.

Can you tell I am a book junkie?  This does not even include the PLEASURE reading I do during the summer, a novel every day or two.  I have over a hundred to read on my Kindle!

So, what are YOU reading this summer?

  1. I just stumbled across your blog and now I'm your newest follower! I also teach 4th grade, so I get excited when I find other "intermediate" blogs out there. :)
