"Reading" Art - Telling the Story Part Two

After working with Melanie Layne from the Kennedy Center
for several days, the kids tried out what they had learned on their own.

They each got a new piece of art.
They noticed,
Thought about the possible story behind the art,
Wrote six word stories about their artwork,
and combined them to create poetry.

Here are some of their finished pieces.

  1. These are truly profound! What a wonderful task for your students!

  2. Teresa, I love this! It's kind of like close reading with art! What an amazing experience for your students to work with the Kennedy Center. It opens up a whole new way of seeing and looking at art for them. I love it!
