A Book a Day in the Month of May!

I am SO a book junkie!
I have decided that for the month of May,
I will share with you some of my
favorite books and how I use them
in my classroom.

I am sharing them in no particular order.
I just piled up some of my favorites.
Some may be your favorites too,
and some may be new to you.

The first one I want to share is

This is one of the most versatile books for teaching!
It has a very predictable pattern
that lends itself to so many things!

Here are some of the things I have done with the book in my classroom...

It's great for getting to know the kids
at the beginning of the year,
and starting off your collection of class books.

It is also a great comprehension check
(and makes for another class book!)
at the end of any unit of study.

We made this one after reading
"Penguin Chick"
in our reading book one year.

I have also made a fun class book at Christmas time
using the frame.

Another awesome project I have done with this
was at the end of the year, I had the kids
interview a classmate and then write
what was important about them
using the frame from the book.
I took each student's picture and added it
to the the wording,
and made a video and keepsake book
or each student as an end-of-the-year gift.
They LOVED them!

The possibilities are endless using this book!

Have you done a special project with it?
I would love for you to link up and share!

Grab the linky button from the top of the page and
share some of the books you love!

  1. How do you do a link up? I'm just starting out… I would love to try to do this. :)

    1. Right click and save the linky button at the top of the page. Add it to you blog post and then come back and click on "add your link." It will take you through the steps. Let me know if you need more help!

  2. I have this book and have sone this lesson.courtesy of you!!!

    1. We've done a LOT of fun teaching things together! I MISS you!

  3. Sounds like a great thing to do all month! I hadn't heard of this book--looks like you can do a lot with it!
